How to Upload and Process a Data Room

Supported File Types
RainMakerz accepts PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, CSV, PNG, JPG, and TIFF files. Maximum file size is 100MB per file. There is no limit on the number of files per data room — our largest customers have data rooms with 5,000+ documents.
Upload Methods
Drag and Drop
Open your project and drag files directly into the data room panel. You can drag entire folders to preserve your directory structure. Files begin processing immediately upon upload.
API Upload
For programmatic uploads, use the REST API endpoint POST /api/v1/projects/{id}/documents with your API key. This supports batch uploads and integrates with your existing document management workflows.
Processing Pipeline
Once uploaded, documents go through OCR (for scanned documents), text extraction, table detection, entity recognition, and cross-reference indexing. Processing time depends on document complexity — a 100-page PDF typically completes in 30–60 seconds.
Querying Your Data Room
After processing, use the AI chatbot to ask questions about your documents. Every answer includes clickable citations that open the source document at the exact page and paragraph. You can also use the structured data view to browse extracted tables, key terms, and financial figures.
